Here are some of our favourite activities out and about in Whitstable and beyond.
I will be adding more to this list as we explore our community. Feel free to tell me what have you discovered with your little ones!
1. Enjoy-a-Ball
Following recommendations from other mummy friends, my 4-year -old attended these sessions at the Umbrella Community Centre in spring and loved every minute. We have just started going again and he is over the moon!
Steve runs two sessions every Wednesday: 3-4pm for pre-school and 4-5pm for school children. I like the fact that he introduces and develops skills for 8 different types of ball-based games, so you never know if you’ve got a Rooney or a Murray on your hands.
Steve is a wonderful coach and a rare specie (meaning, a male role model) in this day and age.
You can get in touch with him on 07814 551 372 or find further information on EAB website.
2. Tall Tale Tuesdays
* Creative after school workshops for 4-8 year olds with Wide Eyed Theatre.
A great and gentle way to get your little ones into drama.
Vicki runs these sessions every Tuesday in term time from 4pm till 5.30pm at the Horsebridge Arts Centre. Activities include story telling, drama, music, arts & crafts. Further details can be obtained from Vicki (vicki@wide-eyed-theatre.co.uk, 07814018169). Try your 1st session for FREE.
3. Gardening Club at Joy Lane Children’s Centre
We enjoyed playing at the Gardening Club over summer.
Sarah and Yvonne run this club every Monday, 9.30 – 11.30am. It’s a drop in FREE session and there are plenty of things to do outdoor and indoor – cars to drive, veg & fruit to water and visit a BUG HOTEL!
To find out more, contact Joy Lane Children’s Centre, Joy Lane, CT5 4LT (01227 263998).
Don’t forget to put your wellies on! We forgot and got in a bit of a pickle
4. Hey Diddle Music
* Music group for babies to pre-schoolers on Monday mornings at the Horsebridge Arts Centre. Lots of local mums rave about it. A bonus is that it’s run by a very lovely music teacher, Anita from St Alfege school.
To find out more, contact Anita by email nitamemmott@yahoo.co.uk or mobile 07710 575390.
Anita is also available for a private music tuition.
